The client Pragrande d.o.o. Pula commissioned the underwater specialist cleaning works on the stretch of the brickwork canal Pragrande from Smareglina Street to Laginjina Street (approx. 1700/1800 mm in diameter). 35 metres of the canal were clogged with solid material, which reduced its diameter down to a one third. We used special scuba gear, machines, and tools for sewerage works since they were carried out at night, with no visibility to speak of.

The work was complex and demanding because it had to be completed within only three days, because there was a risk of the increased surface runoff, high and low tides of the sea, in addition to which we were required to maintain an active bypass for the surface runoff and wastewater flowing in the canal.

Benefits

01

SUBMERGED PART OF CANAL PRAGRANDE WAS CLEANED, WHICH INCREASED THE WASTEWATER FLOW RATE

02

DURING HEAVY PRECIPITATION, THE CLOGGED CANAL WAS LIKELY TO CAUSE FLOODING OF THE ROADS, WHICH HAS BEEN EFFECTIVELY RECTIFIED.

03

MAINTENANCE COSTS REDUCED BECAUSE THE INCREASED FLOW RATE CAUSES THE PIPE TO SELF-CLEAN.
